Three Undeniable Reasons Why Lady Gaga Is an Awesome Role Model For Young Girls

Lady Gaga is undoubtedly the most polarizing woman in today's pop culture, and with that one can only expect for many people to be on one side of the fence or another as to her music. However, regardless of how you feel about her popular dance mega hits or experimental dress, everyone should be able to agree that Gaga is a great influence on young women, in three awesome ways.
1. She Writes Her Own Music -- While one could argue that the Gaga's "out there" fashion choices are a fabrication of her record company, there's no confusion about where her music comes from; it's entirely Gaga. Every popular song that Gaga has her name on, she has either completely written herself, or co-written it with another author. This is an incredibly important point to understand, because it means that behind all the weird videos, odd-ball style and provocative dress, her ultimate claim to fame -- her music -- is that of her own creation.
Young women that look up to Gaga can see a woman that is empowered by her own creativity, and in complete control of her own music.
2. She Stands Up For Civil Rights -- It's very easy to become a superstar and completely forget the people who stood up for you, if those people don't fit with your marketing scheme. Lady Gaga doesn't just remember the gay community that enjoyed and spread her music before she was famous, she actively stands up for their civil rights in a time where those in the media are scared to hurt their image and as a result their sponsorship dollars.
Gaga's concern isn't about how she will appear to a few sponsors or consumers that won't like her championing for the change of unjust laws, but rather about creating equality in the world for everyone, even if some of those people aren't exactly what you want them to be.
3. She's Sexually Liberated -- Without question, Lady Gaga is one of the most sexually liberated female artists in the pop arena. More than just wearing scantily clad clothing or "shaking her tail feather" for men on stage, Gaga embraces sex as a whole, sets up her own standards in a relationship and can often be seen in control of any erotic dynamic or theme taking place in her videos or songs, or in the very least not afraid to explore them in a new way.
There is a distinct difference between a woman dressing in next to nothing and dancing around a rapper for seemingly no reason in a rap video, and Lady GaGa establishing her dominance in a scene that includes numerous men. Gaga is not afraid to talk about sex in a time where men talk about it all the time, but women are expected to be subdued in fear of being called vicious names meant to keep them in a little box. Gaga doesn't have that fear, and neither will any young woman if they continue to look up to her.
